ASSERT – first 5G connected training centre

 

ASSERT Centre welcomes partnership with Vodafone, becoming the first 5G connected telemedicine and medical robotics training centre in the world.

 

Vodafone has announced a partnership with the ASSERT Centre, College of Medicine and Health, University College Cork’s for a 5G training facility focused on the Internet of Medical Things. The initial focus of this partnership will be on 3 technologies: real-time monitoring, telemedicine, and robotic surgery, integrated with wearable Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) based devices. 5G mobile networks, will enable healthcare systems to harvest this digital ecosystem to provide personalised, precise, predictive, participatory and timely healthcare that benefits patients, their care givers, healthcare professionals, healthcare providers and healthcare systems.
