Advances in Paediatric ENT “Grommet” Surgery

ASSERT was pleased to facilitate and support AventaMed (advanced ENT Surgery) in a second R&D lab in our surgical skills lab to further develop surgical technique and procedure on cadaveric specimens simulating surgery for Otitis Media with Effusion (“Glue ear”).

Important objectives were met on surgeon based feedback and image capture of the next generation self-deploying grommets in Trans Tympanic procedures.

Microscopic, endoscopic, image viewers and external auditory meatus mapping of anatomical contours enhanced angles of insertion and placement.

A third surgical lab is anticipated to complement international trials of grommet surgery techniques and local anesthesia.
